Color Your (Interior) World
When it comes to interior design, everybody wants to know what’s hot—and what’s not when it comes to color. So what are the new home interior color trends? Based on the research we’ve done it would seem to depend on who you talk to!
Some experts are bidding adieu to neutral color schemes that they say comforted homeowners during the uncertain economic times of the past few years. They are embracing lively hues and “mood-lifting” colors such as deep reds and purples, vivid greens and blues, and even pigment-infused pastels. Another source claims that coral will be the next hot color.
Not everyone is jumping on the “brighter and bolder” bandwagon, however. There are some interior design experts who maintain that neutral colors will remain a staple for interior design throughout this year.
Of course there are those who walk right down the middle and suggest that neutral colors will continue to play a huge role—with bright, bold accents colors. While others hint that the colors that used to be considered accent colors (such as purples) will begin to take center stage as the main colors (especially lighter shades of violet, darkened mauve and raisin tones and bluer purple tones).
So what does that all mean for homeowners who are building or remodeling? Most likely what it means is that (like every year) there will be some very interesting new combinations to look at. Some of them you’ll like—and some you won’t. Above all, you’ll want to select something that you’re comfortable with. Some of the new combinations may push the limits (in a good way) of what you thought might work. But ultimately you’ll want something that makes you feel at home in your home.
