Building a Better World
We’re builders—and we love it. But we know that there is more to life than just building homes. We’d like to think we can help build a better world. That’s why we’ve just made our 16th loan to Kiva—to help entrepreneurs in countries who don’t have some of the advantages we do.
Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. They leverage the Internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions to help create opportunity around the world.
Since being founded in 2005 Kiva has worked with 634,380 lenders to distribute $253 million in loans. One of the remarkable things about the program is that they have a 98.9 percent repayment rate. We appreciate the fact that 100 percent of every dollar lent through Kiva goes directly toward funding loans; Kiva itself does not take a cut—and they do not charge interest to their Field Partners, who administer the loans.
We consider ourselves privileged to be able to contribute in a small way to help build a better world. You can find more information about Kiva at www.kiva.org
